Shingles: Owens Corning Duration

Color: Brownwood

More and more homes are looking to be more energy efficient. Solar powered skylights are a great way to efficiently manage your home’s light and temperature. For this Ann Arbor home, we installed solar powered skylights with integrated blinds. The skylight has its own self-contained solar cell to charge its internal battery that opens and closes the skylight and blinds. A rain sensor is built in to close the unit in the event that inclement weather arises. The home had an existing solar water heater. We moved the unit onto solar mounting rails. We replaced the roof with Owens Corning Duration shingles in the color Brownwood. If your looking for an experienced roofer or want more information on our solar products, call us at (734) 994-6500.

Most roofing problems don’t start in the shingles. They start in the details. Areas like chimneys require precise flashing and proper integration, especially with materials like cultured stone. Done right, it prevents leaks for decades. Done wrong, it’s one of the first places a roof will fail.
We specialize in roofing solutions that respect the character of historic Ypsilanti homes while delivering modern protection. This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful material selection and expert craftsmanship can bring older homes up to today’s performance standards without sacrificing their unique look.
