On Monday, July 19, 2021, Neighborhood Roofing installed a new roof for Mark Schultz, a U.S. Navy veteran, as part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. Through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County, Mark Schultz was selected and approved as the recipient for the roof replacement.

The Lyon Township man used to have a leaky roof and skylights in need of repairs.

“I priced it (and it is) something I could never afford,” Schultz said. “And the guys stepped forward and said ‘Well we’ve got you.'”

On Monday crews from Neighborhood Roofing replaced the veteran’s roof for free. The Owens Corning Foundation donated roofing materials and Neighborhood Roofing donated the labor.

“It’s a big deal for us to try to support those people, especially if they need that support,” said Tom Meadows, owner, Neighborhood Roofing.

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a nationwide effort to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served our country and the families who support them. Since the inception of this program in 2016, more than 275 military members have received new roofs.
