Shingles: Owens Corning Oakridge

Color: Onyx Black

For this Saline home, we found mold staining on the roof sheathing. The mold growth is due to condensation build up from restricted ventilation. A proper ventilation system brings outside air in through the vents to warm up the attic and then escape through the ridge vents. In this case, the vent was blocked causing the warm air to be trapped inside. The warm air then mixes with the insulation causing the wood to get wet and condensate, leading to mold. During the roof replacement, we corrected the ventilation and installed new roof decking. We installed Owens Corning Oakridge shingles in the color Onyx Black. The results are a beautiful new roof that will now provide long lasting protection of the home.
