A roof protects what’s inside. And sometimes, what’s inside makes a roofing project mean a little more.
Neighborhood Roofing recently had the opportunity to complete a roof replacement project for Alpha House in Ann Arbor, an organization doing incredibly important work for families throughout Washtenaw County.
The mission of Alpha House is to support families experiencing homelessness as they work toward building a better future.
As Washtenaw County’s primary family shelter, Alpha House provides immediate, life-sustaining support and a safe place for families to stay while they work toward securing permanent housing.
When the roof protecting that space began to fail, it was time to make sure the building itself had the protection it needed to continue serving our community.
Neighborhood Roofing was proud to be part of that work.
For the Alpha House roof replacement, our team installed Owens Corning Duration shingles in Sierra Gray, paired with Pearl Gray drip edge for a clean, finished appearance.
The project included:
The project also required our roofing team to properly tie the new shingles into the existing EPDM roofing transition.
Buildings with multiple roofing systems require careful attention where those materials meet. The transition between an asphalt shingle roof and an EPDM low-slope roofing system needs to be properly integrated to help direct water away from vulnerable areas and create a dependable, watertight roofing system.
It’s the kind of detail homeowners may never notice from the ground—but getting those details right is an important part of protecting the building underneath.
For Neighborhood Roofing, being a local roofing company means more than working on homes and buildings throughout Ann Arbor. It means being part of the community we’ve served for decades.
Alpha House gives families a safe place to land during an incredibly difficult time in their lives. Having a dependable roof overhead is one small but essential part of making that possible.
We were proud to help give Alpha House a new roof so their team can stay focused on what matters most: supporting families as they work toward stability, permanent housing, and a better future.
Because everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
Neighborhood Roofing has served Ann Arbor and the surrounding communities for more than 50 years. From residential asphalt shingles and flat roofing to EPDM, metal roofing, ventilation, repairs, and more complex roofing transitions, our goal remains the same: provide dependable roofing solutions that help keep the people underneath them safe.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to work on the Alpha House project and to help protect an organization that does so much to protect families in our community.
Safe Homes. Stronger Communities.
