Shingles: Owens Corning Oakridge & EPDM

Color: Desert Tan

Ann Arbor’s beautiful homes are a part of the fabric of the community and the different types of architecture is what makes this city so unique. With a striking silhouette, this modern home has an M-shaped roof that is double-pitched, essentially a double gable. The roof rests on two bearing walls with two sloping walls meeting in the middle to form an ‘M’ shape.

The lower pitch area has a high point at the middle which allows drainage in two directions opposite of the shingled areas. We installed EPDM in this area to provide extra protection against heavy loads of snow and ice during the winter season and concentrated water flow during the storms of the warmer months.

The rest of the roof was replaced with Owens Corning Oakridge shingles in the color Desert Tan. The Oakridge shingles perfectly compliment the trim and siding for an impressive curb appeal.

Most roofing problems don’t start in the shingles. They start in the details. Areas like chimneys require precise flashing and proper integration, especially with materials like cultured stone. Done right, it prevents leaks for decades. Done wrong, it’s one of the first places a roof will fail.
We specialize in roofing solutions that respect the character of historic Ypsilanti homes while delivering modern protection. This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful material selection and expert craftsmanship can bring older homes up to today’s performance standards without sacrificing their unique look.
